And its not just that… each time I add exclusions to each folder that avast! is stuck on, it keeps getting stuck on multiple folders within Program Files. I just received this laptop (new) yesterday - help!
Have you removed the security software that came pre installed on the computer ?
Yes. McAfee was uninstalled, and I made sure that Windows Defender was turned off as well.
Also, if I use the “Scan Folders Individually” option, the scan works flawlessly. But when I run the Full System Scan, it stalls on that folder… doesn’t make sense at all.
You also need to use the removal tool to get the remaining bits of McAfee of the system 21a http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/ once you run the tool reboot and try a repair of avast as it may have been corrupted by remnants of McAfee, if that doesn’t work you may have to do a reinstall of avast.
I run nvidia hard/software and avast has never detected or interfered with it.
