Full system scan question?

When doing a full system scan (not resident scan) is it possible to automaticaly send any infected files to virus chest? A full scan usually takes about 2 hours and as a result I am not at my PC during the entire process. However I dont want the scan to pause when it finds something and wait for me to return to the pc to confirm what needs to be done. I have avast 4.7 home version.

Spyware scanners such as adawareSE is an example of what I would like in an anti virus scanner. It scans first then asks what you want to have done with what ever it has found.

These advanced automated options are only available in the Pro version. The Home (free) version requires interactive input. You can on the first detection (if one occurs), select No Action and tick the box don’t show this again (or words to that effect). The scan will continue and present a list requiring action at the end of the scan. The ‘don’t show this again’ option only lasts for that scan and isn’t carried forward to subsequent scans.

What type of scan are you doing, Local Disks - Quick, Standard or Thorough sensitivity, with or without archives ?

Archive (zip, etc.) files are by their nature are inert, you need to extract the files and then you have to run them to be a threat. Long before that happens avast’s Standard Shield should have scanned them and before an executable is run that is scanned. Thorough is also by its design very thorough and perhaps a little overkill for routine use, were a Standard scan without archives should be adequate.

I have only ever done a through scan with archives once shortly after installation just to ensure a clean start state, but with XP for example avast will do a boot-time scan after installation if you select it, this I believe will be quicker and reasonably effective. Like everything in life things are a compromise.
