I am deploying Avast! Endpoint Protection Suite to multiple sites (K-12 School Districts), and we’ve pinned down our settings in the avast5.ini file, but there does not seem to be a simple way to package our custom settings into the silent install package produced from the AEA console. Our current solution is to build the package with the settings we can from the console, deploy that package (using the silent install executable distributed with our endpoint management system), then copy our custom avast5.ini after the installation to its proper XP or Win 7 path. This seems to be working fairly well, but surely there is a better way?
The custom INI section only seems to allow one setting to be entered, so we have chosen to disable the sounds to avoid the “Welcome to Avast!” and initial update notification sounds (which seem very out of place for a professional product!)
