Funny postings?

Hi malware fighters,

Sometimes in the “virus and worms” we see postings by people asking for help on malware. We do our utmost to help them, and as a result they seem to disappear. Not a sign of them anymore, no thank ye, no nothing, not even a sign their computers are cured or whatever. I think this is funny behaviour. Are people like that nowadays? What do my webforum colleages think of this? We see more and more of this lately.

Yes I do see that sometimes, not only in the virus and worm forum. The thank you is nice, but I think the most important thing missing, is not knowing if the fix worked or not. Knowing what worked or didn’t in different situations adds immensely to the knowledge of this forum.

I agree. It would be nice to know which solutions worked.

I can’t say that I don’t hate this behavior… I feel misconsiderated…

yes it would be nice if they could just stick around long enough just to at least say thank you or something instead of just vanishing into thin air ::slight_smile:
polonus…the below is a pic of swan mountain-in your pm i just got from you saying where you were going

It is more a feeling of frustration that you take the time to help, but get no feed back if and what worked. Part of that frustration is that future forum members won’t have the benefit of that information and effectively ask the same question.

Hi drhayden1,

Well for the Thursday they predict here in Holland 28 degrees Celsius, so it could well be used for sleeping out in the open. It has never been that hot in April I guessed,

Unfortunately, I have been noticing this behavour not only on this forum but in many aspects of life for the past 5 or 6 years. But, lately, it seems to have gotten worse everywhere … even on this forum.

It is a sad state of affairs. :frowning:

Charley, what’s wrong with avast forums? Am I following your mind?

Hi Tech -

I guess you misinderstand my last post. On the whole, there is nothing wrong with the avast forum. I was only adding to the comments of the others above. There are too many times in life these days that people are not thankful (or do not state their thanks) for the help they are given freely by those who like to help others. As Polonus and the others stated above, it is now also more noticeable on this forum. I was just saying that I have noticed this type of behavior in other aspects of life also. :frowning:

I hope this helps clear my statement above.

The thank you’s are nice but, in a way, they embarrass me. I feel funny being thanked for doing something I enjoy.

But for sure some sort of positive feed back is needed more often lately. Just a “hey, the computer is running great now …” It’s hard to stay motivated without knowing the effort has accomplished something.

I agree … posting something like in the above quote is a way of saying thanks.

Sure it helped… now I follow your mind. Thanks Charley.

Kind of like the help I gave you in posts 9 and 10 in this thread, huh?

Hi OrangeCrate,

There is almost never any ground to take things personal here. Not doing that makes life so much easier for one. I have not even unpacked my new 4 GB flash drive, so I cannot comment on your advice here. That is the only reason I haven’t so far.
