G Chrome issue!

Hi,

Clean unistalled & than reinstalled Google Chrome browsers on 2 machines in my office, using the same dsl router modem and both online.

When pressed Ctrl + H, on either see 3 names vs 2 of each?

Any ideas, suggestions why?

Hoping to hear from you experts.

Thanks!

To see where, when and who accessed your google account, got to:
https://www.google.com/settings/security
once signed in, select “view all events” in the recent activity window.
Make sure all those entry are actually you.
If not, use the “recovery and alert” information.

Thanks bob3160 for your expert advice.

I did see a login from an unusual place so reset my GMail pw.

I have a few questions:

  1. Have added my Yahoo and Hotmail account to this…should I reset there passwords too?

  2. Still see 3 machine’s when clicked on Ctrl+H?

  3. How to clean uninstall Chrome?

Regards!

I would definitely change the rest of the passwords.
Have you cleared the history and taken a look to see if the third computer is still listed ???
To totally remove Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95319?hl=en

Correct, despite clearing history see 3 computers. ???

You need to look at your detailed history to see if the “stranger” still has access.
Since you’ve changed your password, you also need to make sure that you are the only one
accessing your account. This may also help:

Hi bob3160, resetting the PWs of my Yahoo and Hotmail help reduce spam alot, but still see 3 machines when history is clicked. Would you recommend uninstalling & re installing Chrome on both?

Another thing as W7 was installing its updates, displaying not to shut down the computer my laptop’s battery died, now I see 1 updated failed installed, any suggestions?

Thanks!

The question is if that third computer has current access. History will always be there since it did happen.
As long as that unauthorized access isn’t currently happening, I would not re-install Chrome.
Hope you’ve learned a lesson never to update Windows unless plugged into a wall outlet.
Have you rebooted your system since the problem ???
Any error messages ???

  1. It was on access on a different (few weeks ago) country using Opera mini browser, so that means it a mobile access?

  2. yes rebooted the system, no error messages but W7 update history shows that 1 update failed?

  3. yes

  4. look at the update history get the info for the failed update and install it manually.

  1. Update history screenshot.

  2. No error messages on reboot.

  3. The access was from a different country, most likely a mobile device.

Manual downloads:

  1. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42193 …this is for Vista and not W7 or it doesn’t matter? :-X

  2. The reason for having Chrome is that it shall sync with my cell, Nexus 5… I can uninstall Chrome on both & have FF on one and Opera or Safari on the other or either of the 3 on both? :-\

  1. try this one: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42215 Sorry.
2 I have all 3 on my computers and Android devices but have Chrome set as the default.

I shall try the one posted or restore the last complete back up taken of my machine’s C drive.

How can one create a desktop short cut for GMail?

Thanks again.

(I used Chrome to accomplish this since it’s my default browser.)

Your wallpaper will be different.

You can also use Google Mail Checker which will put a Gmail icon in the top righthand corner of Chrome.

bob3160, issue got resolved, had the history checked in Advanced sync options, what do you generally recommend to check since I have Android devices plus G Chrome as default browser on all my machines?

Thanks.

Btw http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=42215 update wont install, during install displays not for this computer? :-\

The other got installed but in windows updates doesn’t show? :-X
