Gaobot variant not recognized by Avast HE?!

It seems that a Gaobot variant is not recognized by Avast Home Edition.

In my shared folders with write access I have found the following files:

a.exe 106.044 bytes
duck.exe 144.384 bytes
he3.exe 105.526 bytes
testfile 0 (zero) bytes

If I delete them after few minutes they appears again.

And in the printer queue of my shared printer appears some Guest print.

I have sent these files to a friend and they are recognized by its Virusscan antivirus as W32/Gaobot.worm.gen.by.

I have a small home network with two PC’s, regularly patched and updated with Microsoft Update.
Both run Windows XP, one with the Home version and one with the Professional version.
Both run Avast Home Edition version 4.6.691, VPS version 0534-4 regularly updated.

The files appears on either PC’s, even when the other is powered off.

Where I can post/upload these files?

You can send these file to virus[at]avast[dot]com. The file must be in password protected archive ( usually the password is “virus”) and you must include some info about the files and the password in the mail body. :wink:
