My trial period for our Avast win 2000 server is up and I have a few questions.

The server is just a simple file server.

  1. When I first used your product I install the pro version on each workstation then on the file server. The question, will Avast Server provide enough security to all the workstations? re not installed directly on each workstation. Will their individual workstation virus scan still work?

  2. I had email scan activated, it says the default port is being used. Is that from anouther virus program? Should I uninstall it? Will that solve the problem?

first, sorry for the late reply.

  1. You need to have a virus protection on every machine (every workstation and every server) to be effective. The server can’t control what’s happening on the workstations (floppy disks, USB drives, Internet downloads…).

  2. Are you talking about the server or a workstation? On the server, the mail shield is typically inactive because no mail clients are installed there…
