Well, after reading at all 3 of those links, I decided I needed more info and did a Scroogle search. After reading over 50 results, much of the information I got was basically what is on the GeSWall website. Ratings were anywhere from none (not yet rated) to “3 of5” and “6 of 10.” Three times I came across notes that said this program was “for advanced users only as your computer may not start.” I take it these persons did some wrong settings.

I am tempted to try it but at the same time some other reviews mentioned that it was a bit restrictive in the use of your own computer.

I think this product has good potential but perhaps is a bit too over restrictive, maybe, as you found CharleyO.

Mike

Yes, from what I read and saw, there is almost no way to reverse decisions once they are made … short of uninstalling. This is a little to restrictive for a generally knowledgable computer user.

On the other had, it would be a nice tool to use on a teenager’s computer or other computer newbie of any age.

That’s probably a good idea.

If you could reverse the decisons I would probably try it.

Mike

If it can’t reverse a decision, surely you can delete the entry and force it to ask on the next use of that program, etc.

Yes, that might be possible … though I do not now remember reading of that possibility. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve tested a similar program before and started a thread…

Like one of the reviews posted in CNet, I want to control my computer.
DropMyRights is safer, less intrusive, easy to use, configure and remove when you want.
Microsoft release a better solution for computers with multiply users: Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP

I just say an image of it in use on the site (lacking in information), that showed Applications with several sub folders below it for different types of software, p2p, etc. So I just thought that you could open these application sub folders and find the entry and delete it.
