In the Avast SSL account settings I have set the SSL connection to “NONE”, and I found that I have to uncheck the “Automatically detect and warn about unprotected SSL connections” to keep Avast from re-entering the connection as an SSL connection when I receive new mail (I don’t like the idea of unchecking this but if it is checked then Avast enters the SSL connection into the SSL accounts settings).

Setting SSL to “NONE” STILL doesn’t help, Avast still does not scan the incoming mail. I have to have the email server (provided by fastmail) set to SSL or it will not work.

I don’t understand why Avast has so many issues with SSL connections (I understand Avast provides SSL encryption, but in cases where the email server has to have an SSL encryption setting it seems to me there should be a simple way for Avast to scan these emails as well). :-[

Why won’t Avast work after I’ve set the SSL connection to “NONE” for Avast’s SSL account settings for that specific email server? Is it because the PORT gets automatically changed by Avast settings from 995 to 110 when set to “NONE” (which is out of my control)?

I sure wish Avast would provide more support help in the way of instructions and settings for these kinds of issues. :-\
