Thanks for the reply. Yes I know, like most email providers fastmail does scan for viruses. I also use vfemail and they have virus protection as well.
It’s just that since I use Avast it would be nice if Avast could scan for emails that use SSL encryption which would add a second layer of protection.
In the case of vfemail Avast does scan for viruses simply because vfemail does not require encryption like Fastmail does.
I’m not familiar with other virus protection programs so I can’t say if this is a common problem, but that said it would sure be nice if Avast could handle SSL encryption emails in a better way.
As to Avast 8, I don’t care for the way it looks. I like version 7 OK but I presume that “update” isn’t available (that is as an update to the current version), that said one would think that there would be a way to get Avast 6 to scan SSL email using Outlook.
Since I have not had a reply regarding my version of Avast it suggests to me that the answer is not available. That’s to bad, you’d think this would be possible and you’d think that Avast would have some kind of support instructions to do so. I find it kind of difficult to conclude that this would be impossible for Avast 6 frankly.
