Hello everyone.
My family’s PS3 died and we’re looking to buy a new one. We’re looking for a slim-model PS3. However, I have a few questions before we do since my family and me aren’t too techno-savvy:
We plan on buying a European game (which is PAL) and our HDTV is only NTSC I believe. PS3’s are region-free, but I’ve heard that NTSC HDTV’s have trouble displaying PAL games. However, I’ve also read that as long as you use a HDMI-cord everything will display/show properly since HDMI is universal? Is that true? I’ve read a lot of mixed answers.
The description for one slim-model PS3 said “Internet-ready built-in Wi-Fi”. Does that mean that as soon as we turn on the PS3 it will automatically connect to a network? Or is it like the PSP where you have to connect to a network first (create an access point manually)? There’s several unsecured networks in our neighborhood and I don’t want the PS3 connecting to one of those (or any network really) without my consent.
EDIT: Deleted last question since I found the answer to it.
First question, not sure to be honest, the PS3’s internet is incredibly easy to set up as there are 2 options, easy and advanced, I’ve had my Ps3 roughly 5 - 6 years now?, no problems with the wifi and as I said, it’s easy to set up.
So you DO have to set up the PS3’s internet yourself before it can connect? Good. I was worried that my PS3 would automatically connect itself to the internet without my consent as soon as I started it up.
