I recently successfully updated my free Avast software on my account (Administrator), and my wife’s account on this Windows 7 computer.
Since then, Avast does not start up properly when I login to the guest account. There is a visual c++ assertion failed error.
So I downloaded the latest from Avast: avast_free_virus_setup.exe, which was placed in c:\users\guest\downloads. When I try to run that file I get an error 82 (000052) extracting main.exe. I retried that operation, this time checking “Run as administrator” Same error results.
How do I fix this?
What exactly does the assert say? Any specific information?

I tried to insert an image above, but it doesn’t show in preview.
I am new to this forum. Am I missing something?
Must the image be on the web?
Thanks for the hint on attachments
did you try to attach it… attach button belowe
Above is the message I get when I login to guest account. You need to click the paper clip to see it larger.
Well, maybe not the paperclip. Just click the image.
When I try to run the…setup.exe, I get this:
OK, I managed to fix the problem in my wife’s login account by making her an administrator. That way she could do a re-install of Avast.
But I can’t make the Guest account an administrator.
What should I do? Uninstall from my account and re-install?
Doesn’t anyone else get these error messages?
