All of the sudden this afternoon I started getting an Avast warning that it blocked a malicious site. I did some research and was able to match a couple of the names to addresses at the bottom of spam emails in Yahoo. They are the F**K me ones I have been getting forever, but today Avast started giving me warnings even though the emails were never opened. I am using the free version of Avast and have nothing but high praise for how well it has worked in all the years I have had it. I update the definition file everyday. I was flustered when it first happened as I am VERY careful where I go on the web and what I click on.
Both Avast and Malwarebytes found nothing bad on my computer. I also downloaded a current version of RKILL from bleeping computer in case I needed that. I am running Windows 7 and am using FF as my browser. Both are also up to date.
Has there been a change in Avast and is it trying to help me here even though it never did it before today? I forgot to mention that it is coming up as URL:MAL and IP address is all the same in details.
Here is my screen shot. I hope it came through as I have posted on here before. The info before .gif matched exactly to an unsubscribe link at the bottom of a spam email which made me narrow down my problem to Yahoo.
Thanks for your help. I would never unsubscribe from a spam email I did empty the spam folder last night to see if that would help. Apparently all it took was a reboot to fix whatever was happening. When I logged in this morning I had new F**k me emails in Yahoo spam, but got no alert today. HMMMM Very weird, but that is the nature of computers sometime. I will let you know if it happens again. Thank you Avast for having such a great FREE product for users.
