My computer was slowing down so I thought maybe I should update Avast which I’ve disabled to auto-update or download new updates. The last update was in July. While my computer was trying to restart itself after Avast finished updating, my laptop suddenly got a Bad Pool Header BSOD. After the BSOD finished collecting stuff, my pc restarted itself again as you would expect but while booting up I got another Bad Pool Header. This repeated for at least 3 times until I was able to go to my desktop. Now, I have to wait for many hours to use my computer because of that. Many hours because my pc is slow to boot so that many restarts would account for like an hour and a half. Aside from the fact that this started after I updated Avast, another reason why I think this is caused by Avast is because I get that bad pool header bsod whenever I try to uninstall it. Today was the longest that I can’t go to desktop and I still can’t get in while writing this. I forgot to disable Avast from starting on boot the last time I got in. I wanted to uninstall it in Safe Mode but unfortunately my pc can’t go into that mode no matter what method I try including using a bootable/recovery media to invoke Safe Mode. I also can’t use System Recovery because I have no restore points. I want to use Refresh but considering that I can’t go to Safe Mode, something from my Windows installations might be corrupted so I’m scared that jf I use Rrefresh it might erase my files accidentally if things go wrong. So, now I’m stuck. I’m just glad my files are still okay. I can still access them using CMD from the bootable flash drive.
What other things can I do? Can I rename the Avast exe files? Is that a safe thing to do?
