What would cause me to get spam emails from my own email address? This is happening more and more often and I want to figure out the cause and a remedy.
Nothing strange in that, someone you know communicate with has your email in their address book and their system is infected and sending out spam.
The deceptive trick of having the From address (easy to forge) being the same as the To address, is so if you have an anti-spam program it would often white list your email address so it would sail through unchecked.
I have an anti-spam program (MailWasher) and I have a user compiled anti-spam filter called MeMe, where if it is from Me for Me it is flagged for deletion at the email server, so it is never downloaded.
Maybe it would be a good think a full scanning with avast and MBAM to see if your computer is clean
