Gigaget

Bob, this question is probably for you since you recommended Gigaget on your Shared Files.

How the heck does this thing WORK?
Just as a test, I tried to get it to download CCleaner off of FileHippo.
I inserted the URL that I got by clicking on the “Download Latest Version” there in FileHippo’s CCleaner page.
That didn’t work.
What URL AM I supposed to use?

How can I download / SAVE YouTubes?
That didn’t work either.

I am going to go get a pizza now.
Otherwise, I am ready to kick this and all other Download Managers off the highest cliff I can find. So, far WinWGet, Orbit Downloader and now Gigaget have done SQUAT.

Pepperoni and sausage for me, Chim ;D

Do you have a Pizza Download Manager, Jadinolf? ;D

I think I’m pulling the plug on this Download Manager experiment.
I don’t think it probably works with Dial Up.

A bit later I’m gonna download and try the YouTube Downloader that I saw on another thread.

Chim,
You need to feed the link to the exe or zip or rar or what ever file it is your downloading.
Not the link to the download page.

Bob, I first tried to test things by trying to download CCleaner at FileHippo.
I first Right Clicked on the “Download Latest Version” link.
I clicked on “Copy Link Address.”
I used that URL.

When that didn’t work, I took it a step further.
I Clicked on the “Download Latest Version” link.
When I was at the Run or Save prompt … I copied that URL.
I tried that URL, but it didn’t work either.

Overall, as far as downloading YouTubes, I’ve taken care of the problem by downloading and installing YouTube Downloader. I already tried it out yesterday and it worked. I inserted the same type of YouTube URL that I had tried on all 3 Download Managers in my experiments. I had gotten nowhere with that type of YouTube URL on the 3 Download Managers. But, YouTube Downloader took that URL and ran with it. It downloaded the YouTube just fine. I then converted it to WMV I believe. And I then played it with Windows Media Player.

But, YouTube Downloader took that URL and ran with it.
That's what that download manager was designed to do. It's not a function set up in Gigaget or other standard download managers.
