Girl Needs Help - should've paid more attention in my computer science classes..

Hi!

I need help.

I am sure this is an easy fix for all your computer people.

My Windows Security Alerts tells me that my AntiVirus is turned off since it is out of date. I have them on auto update (I think.)

My AVG-free’s Security Status tells me that everything is good except the first item: Internal Virus DataBase is out of date. When I click Update, it tells me that its already updated… ???

Can you help me?

Heather

Should work for your case (AVG AV). Remember to post back and give us an update  !!

–For these solutions, the basic thing is to restart the service that Windows Security Center runs on, and perhaps some registry tweaking if it doesn’t work. Keep us posted, and tell us what happened.

Interesting…I just tried to log into one of my email accounts (my old University one) and it won’t let me…telling me to double check time and date on my comp…

Off to decipher all the “computer-ese”.

 Hi :

Since you are using AVG and NOT Avast, you should be asking your
question(s) on the AVG FREE Forums at
http://freeforum.avg.com/ .

@ HeatherGayle
You mention “My AVG-free’s Security Status tells me that everything is good” are you running two resident AVs ?

Having two resident scanners installed is not recommended as rather than provide twice the protection it can cause conflicts that could leave you more vulnerable. Not to mention this could be confusing the heck out of the windows security center.

Check your system date, double click the clock and ensure the day month and year are correct, adjust as required.
