“…Garett Rogers reports that Google prepares a new version of Gmail, according to a message from the translation console. It’s not clear what are the new features, but one thing that will change is the user interface…”

Interesting… : :
Well i’ll be happy to any new features in GMail. Although i’d prefer the most a feature similar to Yahoo’s briefcase, so you can easily store files in your space using web service (pretty much like Live SkyDrive and FreeDrive does).
Does this help any ?

Not really. This is just a hack. I can just as well do that by sending an email with attached file to my own email (resulting in file being stored directly into GMail). I’d prefer some more direct folder and file managing…
If you find a free service, please, let us know.
Mozy is the best on-line backup (storage) service, but you can’t browse, drag-and-drop, synchronize files…
Well, so far i know only 3 good ones. First one has unlimited space but it’s a public one (FileFront - unlimited/unlimited). Other two are FreeDrive (6GB/1GB per month) and Live.com SkyDrive (500MB/unlimited). These two are both private or public if you want, but FreeDrive has larger capacity but limited bandwidth, SkyDrive is smaller but no bandwidth limits.
After all limitations, free, private, unlimited/unlimited Mozy is the best for me… Wishing I find anything better for backup purposes. Xdrive is from AOL, we can’t get registered. SkyDrive is not available outside US (?).
I’m not in US and i can use SkyDrive just fine…
I can’t
Hi!
but with Gmail Drive you CAN create & manage your folders 8)
Not without installing that thing on PC, which is not always possible.
That’s true :-[
You can change/customize a lot of things with Gmail now, including the interface. If anyone is not familiar with the Firefox extension “Better Gmail”, you can read about it here:

Edit:
I’m quite a gmail fan, especially since it would run so smoothly and quickly even when I only had a dial up connection. Additional changes/features can be good as long as they don’t take away the things that we love ;D.
Gmail’s Storage Increases, 6 GB in January 2008
http://bp1.blogger.com/_ZaGO7GjCqAI/Rw9-HTsvOcI/AAAAAAAAFdI/gJxt4X3UUI8/s640/gmail-storage-graph.png
...Gmail will increase the free storage gradually in the next days. On October 23, you'll get 4321 MB of storage, then the growth will slow down until January 4, when you'll have 6283 MB of storage. From January 4, you'll receive 3.3 MB every day, that's 10 times bigger than the current rate of growth...

Very good news. Thanks Sasha.
I LOVE gmail.
I tested yahoo mail, hotmail, adpost, mailup and even paid email accounts but nothing compares to gmail. Plus the chat feature is really cool. No software required to start chatting with people.
I’ve got a little more than that available now.

Bob, you’re always ahead of me… I’m always behind :‘( :’(
Why? Is there any reason for Google to give you more space than the others?
