Just spent 20 min rummaging this form and didn’t see an answer. Apologies if this is a well worn topic or if I’m just plain clueless.
I’m new to Avast and so far have been pleased with the exception of one major problem: Gmail loading always stalls when using Firefox (it works in IE)… All other sites/pages load fine including my other web-based email.
Running WinXP Professional SP2, Firefox 2.0.0.14, IE 6.0 (with a lot of garbage after it), Windows firewall.
Any pointers appreciated. I hate using IE! Thanks!
Do you happen to have any security based extensions, like NoScript or CookieSafe ?
I take it the the problem arises on an HTTPS (secure) page as the gmail signin I would assume is a secure web page ?
So you logon and click OK, etc. the user name and password would be validated and you would then be redirected to your account at what point are you experiencing problems ?
Do you accept cookies in firefox as it may be that cookies are used to store your logon info and transferred to the account, if that doesn’t happen I would guess there would be a problem.
Sorry I can’t be of more practical help as I don’t use gmail.
Cookies are the culprit! I tried clearing my Firefox cookies before uninstalling avast and it worked. Never had the problem before, hopefully won’t have it again. Thanks for your help.
