Thank you for reading this post. Here is my challenge. I just downloaded Avast A/V for Mac. I’m trying to set up my Gmail to run through Mail Shield. I have followed the instructions (I know how to set up Mail Shield as I did it for my iCloud mail account and it works perfectly.) But with Gmail, after I remove SSL from the Apple Mail Gmail (remove check from SSL box), and then input “imap.gmail.com” into the Mail Shield SSL table, upon hitting ‘save’, the following error appears: “Can not verify server”. I believe this is because I use Gmail’s two factor authentication’s application specific password, which is inserted in the password field for Apple Mail, but there is no place to insert it for Mail Shield. oh yes, I checked KeyChain and the password is there. So…
Any ideas on how to remedy the situation? I want to use Mail Shield for my Gmail account running in Apple Mail. (I also have verizon mail but haven’t even attempted to set that up until I get the Gmail situation fixed.)
