Goodby Avira - Hello avast!

Well, I finally bit the bullet and installed avast on one of my computers that had Avira on it for ages. It was version 9 and it did the job I needed it to do but things made me decide to switch.

First, the license key was set to expire on Sep 1 2011 and Avira refused to say what the status of a renewal was except to say that support for version 9 would end on that date. In fact, I installed a key dated 2012 but it changed it back after the first update! I was not going to install Ver 10 and got completely tired of the whole ask toolbar fiasco including the avnotify screen that would always pop up during an update.

So, I uninstalled Avira with AppRemover and installed avast!. All I can say is that it is running really nice. I should have switched ages ago. My son will be switching from MSE also. ;D

Welcome back, most see the light and come back to the avast! 'security blanket; ;D

Tgell, welcome back. Indeed the ask toolbar & popups are the major fiasco of Avira.

Good choice…!

Welcome home Tgell and I hope you’ll stay with Avast forever because they do care about you’re PC

Welcome back home and make yourself comfortable again here

Welcome back.

Avira its indeed going bad but the ppl who dont know about the partners they might maybe be trapped… I feel bad for them and im sure/hope avast! wont be like Avira. They know who to partner and what to do. Its not why that they are old (1988 - 2011). So you can feel happy with avast! and be sure that you can view/got a smart program.

avast! for me i used it 4.7 to 6.0 and i will be using it to 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 or what ever lol. They made my pc very secure. I had full problems with others antiviruses because rootkits was invading me and others antivirus couldnt catch them. But avast! yes… So i reformat less now because i use avast! and im surely happy. I can say i cant notice the performance that its take.

So be sure that if you got any problems u can ask us here for anything related to avast!. Or for a virus.

Mr.Agent

I used to really like Avira and not like avast! so much. Now, the tables have been turned in a big way. I’d go as far as to say that avast! is by far the best free AV going.

Avira has so many problems updating, thats the reason i switched and it seems that avast is for my computer.

I used to recommend Avira, but after they partners with Uniblue, I just can’t anymore.

Welcome to avast guys

I also have noticed my system being a bit more responsive, especially at boot up. Right now, I boot to the login screen of XP in about 15 seconds.;D When the new version comes out of beta,I will install the script shield and see how that goes.

I had MSE for about 2 years and then their data base went bad or something .Would check the same files twice and would take 2 times longer to do a full scan. Over 2 million files :o so I made the switch Avast premium a few months ago and very pleased with it.probably the only negitive would be the firewall it came with it would sometimes slow my system down when used in conjunction with the windows firewall so I turned it off and just use the windows one.

If you have windows XP as operating system, then let me tell you that it would be better to use avast’s firewall

And between welcome to avast ;D
