Google blocks badware

We're entering a new phase here at StopBadware.org. Google -- which is one of our partners -- is now presenting people with a warning before they visit websites that have been reported to StopBadware.org as sites that distribute badware.

I came across one of these warnings recently while researching a product mentioned by somebody with malware problems. They should prevent all but the most brain dead of Googlers from downloading scumware programs, with any luck.

Isn’t this what McAfee SiteAdvisor and a few others already do?

Yes … which is why Google now wants to do it for themselves.

I guess the bad reputation of Google results presented by 3rd parties had an effect.
