Hi. I have Avast Free antivirus 7 installed and have been using it with Firefox for years with no issue. However, when I try to run Google Chrome, it always runs in sandbox mode. Always. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, adding it to every exception list I can find, turning off sandbox mode. Nothing works. And this means I can’t install any Chrome add-ons.
Is there a way to a) configure Avast to not run Chrome in sanbox mode, or b) install add-ons while in sandbox mode? Any help would be appreciated.
I’m using the free version so I don’t have the Full Sandbox feature.
If you have Google Chrome in the sandbox as uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome on the system won’t remove the copy in the sandbox. Have you cleared the sandbox ?
You should also be able to set an exclusion not to run Chrome in the sandbox.
I have not cleared the sandbox. I read something about that when I did my google search, but I can’t seem to find out where the option is. Any suggestions?
So there’s a separate copy of google chrome installed in the sandbox? And Avast automatically runs that instead when I click chrome.exe? That explains why the exclusion lists don’t work - I gave it the path for the .exe file in Program Files.
Yes, I’ve looked through the Sandbox settings multiple times, as well as the page under program help. My experts settings don’t match the ones they list at all, I assume because I have the free version.
Not a problem if you don’t know the solution. I posted this here just in case someone did, since my google searches weren’t helping.
