Google Chrome Slow Start-up!

Is anyone else having issues with GC being slow to start-up?

What is slow to you ? How long does it take to start so you can use it ?

Forty eight seconds, when I first downloaded it, it was very fast to load. avast said that I had some bloatware, adware or some garbage slowing my pc but wasn’t sure if I should spend the dough right now. I have tried this question over at the GC Forum but that forum sucks.

Have you tried Malwarebytes and or Superantispyware, and adwcleaner .All are free and work good.

Caution with ADW, mot really designed for a novice.
It’s probably safer attaching the log here and asking for advice as to what is safe to remove.

Sorry guys my health is not very good right now but I will try and get back soon. I did run the free MBAM and it got like fifty PUP’s seems to be a little faster now. I am not advanced enough to run some of those programs but the guys at BC used a bunch of it not to long ago to fix an infection I had. If I wait until the little green light on laptop stops flickering, as in processing stuff, it then loads up in a little less than thirty seconds. I had a tech friend look at Start-up and eliminate what ever needed to make faster so I think I am good there. I believe that it is some of the MSIE slowing things down along with my old XP system. I don’t have much on my pc though so I know it is not because there is too much space being taken up. In fact I don’'t really have anything but maybe thirty or forty pics on it, GC and Firefox. Thanks for the reply though and I will take another look at MSIE and see if I can remove some of the add-ons, they are all from MS so I will have to research if they are needed.

What about this software: SlimWare Utilities SlimCleaner Does anyone have experience with this especially on XP? Looks like a good product but I am guessing comes with some kind of add-ons lol.

If you’re going to try a cleaner try Ccleaner there is less chance of hurting anything with it.You can also try Malwarebytes and or Superantispyware in safe mode.As for your ad on’s you can turn them off, try a start up and then turn them on one at a time.
good luck.

Thanks guys! People like CCleaner but I used it and lost my log-in because I don’t know what the heck I am doing lol. Why would PCmag say good things about it? Could I use it and provide some screen shots and ask for some advice when using it? Here is the link for the pcmag article: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388692,00.asp

I wouldn’t use slimware unless someone on here with a lot more know how than I have walked me through it step by step

I've always found the default settings in Ccleaner to be safe. Problems happen when you make changes and, don't know what the results of those changes are. That can be said for almost all programs. Unless you know what making changes will accomplish or destroy, leave the default setting alone.

Okay maybe I will have to try it again, I don’t think I changed any settings at the time but I will take another look at it.

avast Browser Cleanup is saying: "We have detected an incomplete un-installation of some Browser Add-ons. Click “Complete Clean-up” to reset all related browser settings such as your homepage and search provider.

Or: Use the tabs on the left to manage these changes or add-ons within a specific browser.

Should I choose this or just leave alone. There are a few add-ons that I got rid of but now there are just some that came with Google Chrome like Google docs Google Search which I don’t think I need.

I also have Xfinity on chrome which I think I can live without? I can always log in manually but I don’t really know the benefit of having this.

Can someone tell me if I can “Disable” Xfinity add-on in the avast “browser cleanup” to see what happens and later restore it? Again just trying to make my Google Chrome start-up faster. Thanks in advance.

You can disable it in your Google settings.
Customize > Tools > Extensions

Bob, I don’t see any: Customize > Tools, but I do know how to get to extensions, and there is no Xfinity there? quite unusual?

I do get it in the Browser Clean-up though and can “Remove” it, or click on it and it gives me the option to “Disable” it. I am a little confused as to why it does not show up in the browser “Extensions”

Thanks Bob but as I said: I can get to Extensions I just did not know the terminology for that icon, thanks for reminding me. The rest of my last post still stands:

I have also posted on the Comcast Site as to why I even need this “Add-on”

Did you at one time install their free security package from Symantec ???
This may be a part from that package.

No but when I plugged in to my (new first time, for this or any computer at my house) the security icon added itself to the desktop but I never downloaded it! I asked some guys here about this security and got nothing but bad reviews so never downloaded it. I like avast and always had good luck with it’s and FREE! lol which is so awesome. I am not confident that I will get an answer from the comcast forum so your it for now buddy lol.

Are you using GC also? and if so are you with comcast too? omit if this is to personal.

It appears to me that they do not want people like me to Disable this add-on lol, don’t you think? So I will wait and see what the guys at comcast say when, and if I ever get an answer.
