Please stop trying to install unwanted stuff when updating the program. There wasn’t even a button to disable this. All it gave me was a window telling me to choose between free update and a free trial to some other new add-on. I picked update and it went to the usual downloading window. When I rebooted, google chrome was installed.
That doesn’t seem right. I can’t really tell though as I’ve only done 2 x 7.0.1451 upgrades and 1 clean install but all 3 machines already had chrome installed.
If you do a Custom install, you have the option to untick the default install Chrome button (as well as other things should you want). Most people do not read when they are clicking away while installing. The default Chrome as your browser is actually on the very bottom of the page when you are installing. Perhaps you missed it or didn’t scroll down far enough to see it.
There is going to be a new update to v. 7.0.1451 next week to fix some glitches. If you want, you can live with it for now or uninstall so you don’t have Chrome if it bothers you that much, and do a Custom install and read carefully before you click while installing (look on the bottom left side of the page).
Why does Avast! push Google Chrome, yet fails to provide Script Shield support for it?
I am not an employee for Avast, and in this forum we do not tolerate such language since there are children who read this and everything posted here is also on Google. May I suggest that you edit your post.
The decision to put Chrome in with the installation of Avast was something that Avast did, and they constantly re-evaluate.
SafeSurf. If you are avast! Evangelist, you must agree with avast! company policy…
You have to admit that to compel a foreign product (and spyware) is poor.
Nope, that’s no prerequisite.
What if you do not do a custom install? I the Chrome button still there to be unticked?
Yes.
This is the screen Tetsuo
Yeah, I know that screen. I have always chosen the custom install (even with betas), so I asked just to be sure. Thank you both for the prompt replies.

You’re welcome.
