Can avast have anything to do with my favorites in google chrome? When I click on something in my favorites, I get the aw snap message. I just updated avast yesterday, could this be the problem?
aw snap message? No problems here using Chrome…
Perhaps a screenshot would help?
Don’t know if I did this right…Guess It isn’t right. Sorry, don’t know how to post the image. I have it saved in my pictures.
I have a couple sites in my favorites that I get this message
I guess you once did post image. Anyway, you can get the option to upload screenshot under the message box tab i.e right below the box where you would be writing a reply ‘Attachments and other options’. Under ‘Attach’, click Browse, select your image, post!
P.S: No problem here.
Antivirus programs can be one cause…
Yes! On Google Chrome I see regular, “aw snap” , and page not available messages. Plus frequently when trying to left click back to a previous page or section of a site the browser simply freezes up.
In Opera 12.16 I have been getting connections refused/ or disconnected messages .
Rezjors page was unusable with avast running.
The avast forum was unusable, as every time I try to left click back from a thread to the main page I get a connection error notice.
In Windows Live Mail, I get frequent server error messages , yet go to the same server using the Opera Mail Client, there is no problem.
In between, everything seems OK. The longer I am line though the worse the issues become.
Last night I tried avast clear, reboot, Rezjors cleaning tool, reboot, fresh avast install, but the same thing happened and I found several site were unreachable, or unusable.
I also see very long boot times, and apps are slow to load .
Totally remove avast and replace with a competitors product and all the issues are gone.
I also see very long boot times, and apps are slow to load .

Here’s what worked for me while using the avast! Internet Security software package
Problem: Our webhost with its online, interactive design templates kept giving me the “Aw, Snap” message when using Chrome.
Solution: If you are very confident that there is no problem with the website, then do the following
- Open avast! user interface
- Click on “Settings” and enter password if you’ve set up that
- Select “Active Protection”
- Find “Web Shield” and click the gear icon (settings) and again use password if needed
- Click on “Script exclusions” and check the box labeled “URLs to exclude:”
- Enter the URL/web domain - e.g. “mywebsite.com” or whatever the domain is where your Chrome keeps saying “Aw, Snap”
- Click “Okay” on the open avast! windows and close the last avast! window manually
- Restart your computer and give your contentious website another shot with Chrome. In my case, it works beautifully.
WARNING: Do not use this method if the website/webpage is unfamiliar to you. Your browser may keep getting hung-up because there really are malicious scripts on the website - – even with big name, well known websites (Yahoo! circa 2006 comes to mind).
And that’s all there is to it! At least that’s what worked for me Good luck!
