Here’s what worked for me while using the avast! Internet Security software package

Problem: Our webhost with its online, interactive design templates kept giving me the “Aw, Snap” message when using Chrome.
Solution: If you are very confident that there is no problem with the website, then do the following

  1. Open avast! user interface
  2. Click on “Settings” and enter password if you’ve set up that
  3. Select “Active Protection”
  4. Find “Web Shield” and click the gear icon (settings) and again use password if needed
  5. Click on “Script exclusions” and check the box labeled “URLs to exclude:”
  6. Enter the URL/web domain - e.g. “mywebsite.com” or whatever the domain is where your Chrome keeps saying “Aw, Snap”
  7. Click “Okay” on the open avast! windows and close the last avast! window manually
  8. Restart your computer and give your contentious website another shot with Chrome. In my case, it works beautifully.

WARNING: Do not use this method if the website/webpage is unfamiliar to you. Your browser may keep getting hung-up because there really are malicious scripts on the website - – even with big name, well known websites (Yahoo! circa 2006 comes to mind).

And that’s all there is to it! At least that’s what worked for me  Good luck!
