Google launches an opt-out extension for Google Analytics..

Hi malware fighters,

It is still in beta but available here: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

I do the same via NoScript and RequestPolicy, but this is also for IE and Chrome…

pol

P.S. If you use it the guys at Google no that you choose the opt-out, blocked in other ways they would not be aware - and this info is also info… ;D

D

Hello friends,

It(google addon) doesn’t seem to work as it should. Check here : http://adblockplus.org/blog/the-wrong-way-to-deal-with-privacy-concerns

There is already another topic on asimilar thing that you started, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=60090.0 and that outlines various drawbacks of this opt-out. From this post onwards http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=60090.msg507178#msg507178.

The add remove programs entry for this is pathetic, it leaves all of the registry entries in place, it leaves all the Google folder, sub-folder and contents behind, a right mess.

Sir DavidR,

I wonder how you could accept the addon so fast… I mean believe in it?, I didn’t even touch it.

If you don’t check, you don’t find out so you can’t make others aware of the other issues.

hum…Polonus…I already posted about that in your thread about GA ;D

I did the same, installed it straight away…I generally trust Google (the stealing of data from open - non-protected - wifi networks is regrettable though…)…but I got to say that I trust them…the product might not be 100% what it’s supposed to be, but it’s not gonna break anything. I’ll check more about the extension tomorrow with Fiddler…and like David said, if you don’t try it, then there’s not much you can tell about ot, no debate, nothing…
Another interesting question is why does Google make such tools available…it’s against their own interest, and the interest of many web site owners…there’s not just this Analytic blocking tool, there was already an AdSense blocking tool  I’ve used AdSense, and I can easily imagine how upset it must be to learn that the company providing the ad support, provides to surfers a blocker at the same time ::slight_smile:

They just want to keep both kind of people with them. So just keep doing these gimmicks.

Google will always amaze me ;D I was just reading a French article relating the recent tensions between North and South Corea…and guess what…below the article, Google context related ads offering cheap flights to Seoul and cheap hotels in Seoul ;D ROFL
