Google Search Redirect bug

Hey all having the problem problem as alot of people. i have contacted Avast tech support but the person dealing with it sent me the usual generic “please update and rescan” which is extremely unhelpful.

sorry the file is in 2 parts. was 4k over the limit.

Attached is the OTLscan

  • am hoping someone can help

Essexboy is notified…

he is usually in here 08:00pm - 11:59pm UK time

seems he will have lots of these when he arrives…must be malware of the month

Thanks. i appericate it.

i have seen unhreads of posts relating to this. avg, avast and malware bytes arn’t picking it up. and like i said submitting a support ticket seems like a waste of time as the guys in their “tech” support are just copy pasting generic replies like “Please update”… which to be honest doens’t fill with confidence when making a desicion to purchase the program or not.

Hi there all av’s are having problems with this - in your case it looks like a rogue FF extension plus a failed rogue av install. I notice you still have AVG running, not a good policy to have two AV running at the same time

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:OTL FF - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\mozilla\Firefox\extensions\\{14214F6F-75CE-4074-A3C4-36BE8099B17C}: C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\Local Settings\Application Data\{14214F6F-75CE-4074-A3C4-36BE8099B17C} [2011/06/22 22:45:33 | 000,000,000 | ---D | M] (XULRunner) -- C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\IAN\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA\{663E773F-E7E4-4888-97AB-6B1933FB7EB8} O20 - AppInit_DLLs: (C:\WINDOWS\system32\larariyi.dll) - File not found O20 - AppInit_DLLs: (C:\WINDOWS\system32\duyojaye.dll) - File not found [2011/06/27 18:41:01 | 000,000,000 | ---D | C] -- C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\Application Data\Umidud [2011/06/27 18:41:01 | 000,000,000 | ---D | C] -- C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\Application Data\Qiegy [2010/03/06 15:20:31 | 000,013,270 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\Local Settings\Application Data\cOIowo4S2404k [2011/05/23 04:59:35 | 000,000,000 | ---D | M] -- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\pF06511MmIfK06511

:Files
ipconfig /flushdns /c

:Commands
[purity]
[resethosts]
[emptytemp]

[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Dude you Freeking rock. seriously. Thank you.

I don’t knwo what your day job is or if you’re like some 12 year old doing this for fun. either way. seriosuly. Thank you.

Sadly for you though… go a search in google on this redirecting thing in googles forums. So far the so called Google employees have absolutley no clue as to what is causing this or how to fix it. both with redirecting and the image problem.

Now. thats nto to say this bug was causing the lack of google images ( which i will still test) but if it did then… holy hell… theres Alot of them and the google teams have no clue about it.

Thank you again  … will buy you a pizza at some point.

Once you are happy let me know and I will remove my tools

Very happy dude.
thanks again man

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [purity] [emptytemp] [EMPTYFLASH] [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.

Upgrading Java:

[] Go to this site and click Do I have Java
[
] It will check your current version and then offer to update to the latest version

SPRING CLEAN

Download and run Puran Disc Defragmenter
For the first run I would recommend a boot defrag and disk check

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Puran.gif

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes. Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit
[*]Microsoft Windows Update

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?
Keep safe

thanks man.

i think its time to ditch firefox too… whenever i open it freezes and lags for a good 2-3 minutes, the defrag and disk check finished and on reboot i opend up to say thanks and that lagged the living hell outta my system

I would uninstall it completely, reboot, run something like ccleaner to remove any registry orphans, etc.

Now reinstall the latest FF version and don’t go berserk on add-ons, start with your security ones first like, NoScript, RequestPolicy, AdBlockPlus, etc. See what that is like and then add your most frequently used add-ons a couple at a time and see if there is any impact. If so you only have a couple of add-ons to test (disable or uninstall) one at a time to find the culprit.

Don’t install add-ons from untrusted sources.

For me firefox starts up in around 8 seconds for first start and I have 27 add-ons and use a theme also.
