Full disclosure - I’m not using Avast but I’m getting the same symptoms. Bitdefender keeps alerting me to an infected webpage “ironmodal.com” - seems to happen when I use Google search or Bing. AV keeps catching it but a scan hasn’t deleted it. I know this doesn’t offer a solution but it isn’t just Avast and it isn’t just Google search.
are you using symbaloo? I’m thinking I might have it figure out. Symabloo says its unsecure and when I do a google search using the address bar on it that’s when I get the ironmodal.com alert.
welp thought it was symbaloo not being secure but its happening again on secure sites if I use the address bar. Now Avast says due to url being blacklisted instead of the trojan it used to say.
I am experiencing the very same thing! I keep getting the ironmodal.com issue. I’ve installed another anti-virus program called G-Data because I copied the URL of the ironmodal into an online scanner. However, when I did the deep scan of G-Data it still didn’t remove the ironmodal.com. I can’t seem to find out what app is requesting to go to ironmodal.com
I believe I’ve fixed the issue… This is what I did.
Made backup copy of my bookmarks and browser history.
COMPLETELY uninstalled chrome.
Restarted the computer.
Went to google chrome website and downloaded it through firefox.
Installed chrome and logged into my google account.
Google chrome added all my plugins/extendation, I said yes to restore it back.
Jumped onto google.com and did 15 random google searches. NO warning came up from Avast.
I recommend trying this yourself. If you haven’t already… However, if this doesn’t work for you please let me know because I find this to be very interesting issue.
I tried methodically removing Chrome extensions - after deleting Video Downloader Professional the ironmodal alert seems to have stopped. I think someone else found this solution worked. Good luck! Incidentally, I’m forced to complete a verification image to post here - and the images are all but indecipherable, thanks fo rthat.
