I often have to use wifi hotspots when im travelling, i wonder how safe is it to use my android device on these hotspots, can people get your google account information? I also need to do app updates on avast, are google apps updates transmitted securely?. Could you get a rogue avast update?

I would have thought all data transmitted between yourself and googles servers are encrypted. Even when downloading from the play store… That is the basis of my question
