gpu driver problems, now cant load safemode, hangs on aswrvrt.sys

I had problems installing gpu drivers (either integrated OR discrete) and now this problem.

help appreciated, thanks!

Hi, this is most likely not a GPU problem. You mentioned (indirectly) that you have 2 GPU’s? Addin + Intregrated (Intel Graphics or Adapter). Take out the Add-In and connect your monitor to that Intergrated. Does that help? If not it’s an issue with the drivers, not your GPU.

Will windows default to a basic vga type driver for the integrated (i5-2500k) if my card is removed?

Otherwise there wont be a display, I couldn’t install the driver after all. I have set in the bios to keep integrated graphics active even with a discrete card in, but I figured it was irrelevant atm because I couldn’t install drivers for either.

Im running out of ideas atm, I might as well try it I guess :slight_smile:

Yes, it will default if you take your other card out

Hi thanks, I am stupid to not guess that I could get basic functionality out of integrated like I can with discrete zzz.

I had the same problem unfortunately.
I’m in windows on a different hardrive atm. (on an installation i havnt messed up by trying to install graphics drivers)

Thanks man. Ive actually had this problem for months now, so I can handle waiting a while hehe. I was too busy to get it sorted, ive tried elsewhere and everyone has been quite confused. possibly a motherboard problem anyway, might not even be avast, or anything software related.

There is a fix, but I am unsure what it is. Since I don’t have any qualifications, I can’t administer it anyways.

Although, the following things might be handy.

-USB Drive
-Windows Install Disc
-Spare computer

thanks, ive got the boot disc and a usb drive. my old computer isnt breathing anymore sadly.

since i connected via the integrated, i think i may be hanging trying to install windows 7 now thugh (or its taking a lot longer, ill try for 30 mins)

I think Mach has taken a look. He is in training and has to talk to his teachers before posting. it might be a while until someone can assist you given the holidays
