this is nice and all, but I’d like to know what exactly is bogging down my PC so I can stop it myself, and find and stop it’s services from starting.
I use WinXP, so I’m free to do that and don’t need some software to do it for me at a price I can’t afford.
yea, I can’t afford $20…
I can’t afford $5…
I can’t even afford 50 cents…
I can only afford free like the knowledge I can obtain.
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh,
you guys don’t know what I go through when it comes to these issues… heh
but if there’s anything that P’s me off, it’s a bribe from a decent free program.
(I’m not just talking about Avast here)
Switch off the avastUI > Settings > Appearance > Community Features - ‘Show avast! recommendation features’ and you won’t get the recommendations (not bribe, they aren’t giving you any money).
I am an idiot… sorry…
lemme fix that and change it to “offers”.
I don’t want to turn it off…
if I have something bogging down my compy, I just want to know what it is…
don’t make me pay for something so you can clean it up for me. (thanks though and I trust it works well)
Forgive me if you ask for help or rant and are given a solution so you don’t see such offers. Then subsequently say that “I don’t want to turn it off…” What was the purpose of your post. I’m an avast user not employee trying to help other avast users, don’t shoot the messenger.
Your system do what you like, turn it off or see other such offers.
hey grime fighter, mind sharing YOUR OPINIONS with us nerds!??
you can’t have control over my system unless you tell me what you want to clean up first.
I’m not gonna let you break something used by a program I use every day. >:/
(like most software that offers the same services does)
sure you’re recommended and force-installed by Avast, but if you start doing crap,
you’re just as good as the joke-ware MyCleanPC.
I receive the same messages and GrimeFighter isn’t installed because
It’s not compatible with my OS Windows 8.1 upgrade
I always choose a costume install and only allow add-ons that I want. If you need, help, please ask your questions.
If you wan to rant, Please start a blog and have a blast.
Drivers (TB Riviera Control Panel, Nvidia Xtreme Tuner HD)
and many more… (can’t recall EVERYTHING atm)
I also have alot of system settings that aren’t exactly used…
if I could change those to get this GF Junk Ware to shut up, I will,
but I want to know what because I may be able to get my compy running a little faster with more organized startups.
it’s a shame some people just have to be selfish jerks and keep all the valuable information and knowledge to themselves.
Avast devs, please remove GrimeFighter… all it will ever be is a pack of trash, as well as a problem causer to you guys.
Why did you install this if you don’t like it ???
Selecting not to install or removing it if installed accidently,
would eliminate your reason to complain.
It pops up on my Vista machine, tells me it has grime.
But it wont tell me what the grime is.
For all I know this grime could just be tempory files so if I payed they could just end up cleaning temporary files which is something I could do my self for free with tools already built in to Windows.
Seriously Avast used to be a brilliant antivirus company with a good reputation. Now they are starting underhanded tactics like tricking people to install google chrome, google toolbar and dropbox with those annoying optional extras that are ticked to install by default.
On top of that they have this grime fighter which tells you you have grime but doesn’t tell you what it is. Which means if you’re gullible you could end up paying for a program that just deleted temporary files.
