When I open avast, it says everything is good and up to date. Then at the bottom it says “we found evidence of grime on your PC.” At the very bottom it says there are 2 bloatware programs and 17 registry tweaks that can speed up my computer. There is a blue box that says OPTIMIZE MY PC. Since I know very little about computers, tweaking the registry is something I’m not comfortable with. Has anyone else had this message come up and what will happen if I click on where it says optimize my pc? Thanks for any input!
That is grimefighter
Go to control panel > programmes and features
Select Avast
On the left of the popup select Change
Remove the tick from Grimefighter and click next.
Reboot on completion

There have been major issues with GrimeFighter as described in this Sub Forum:

I’m on XP, do you mean add/remove programs when you say programs and features?
I thought grime fighter was only for paid subscriptions of Avast.
thank you both for your replies. I would never click on something I’m not sure about, that’s why I ask the good people on here…
Ooops it is in add/remove :-[
You’re welcome.
I just went to avast and clicked on settings>tools>grimefighter there is a box that is ticked and it says "always test this computer for grime. If I just untick this box, will it get rid of the message that’s on the start page of avast antivirus? Thanks again!
Worth a try, I do not see that on my system as it is not compatible with windows 8
