I can’t use Grimefighter.
Every time he told me to reboot, I arrive on a GNU GRUB command page, and I have to reboot.
Long time ago I used grub loader but I uninstalled it and never had trouble like that.
Now I did a lot of manipulations to reset the MBR but nothing works… grub is still here after grim fighter reboot the computer.
Sp what can I do ?
Have you used:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
to repair the mbr ?
Yes I did, the commands worked but the problem remains.
Perhaps you should ask in the Linux forum here or on another webboard on how to remove the remnants Grub.
In theory GrimeFighter should work when it is gone.
I’ve been on the linux forum and I’ve already done what they told.
But the problem is still there.
Well, the problem is the remnants of Grub.
You have to remove them somehow.
Perhaps it is time for a factory restore or a clean installation of Windows.
Hi icounil,
I sent you message to our Dev team and asked for some advice how you might be able to solve this.
Will post back as soon as I hear something (hopefully today or tomorrow)
Thanks,
Davidek
Just a thought.
Do you have multiple drives/partitions?
If so it can be remnants of Grub are not only on the main drive.
Thanks to you for tying helping me.
After many researches and reinstalling my system, it appears that the problem comes from the EFI installed on the disk by BOOTCAMP (I run windows on an apple mac pro).
So it looks that there is a problem between grimefighter and the EFI at the boot.
I just paid for a software I will never be able to use… and I loose many hours.
I have multiple hard drives but they are not partitioned.
If you an idea idea for a solution…
Aha, there we go.
GrimeFighter is mend to run a native Windows systems, not on other systems.
I suggest you submit a ticket explaining things.
Put a link to this thread in the message text and ask for a refund.
As far as the drives, they are partitioned otherwise you can’t use them.
Partitioned doesn’t mean there are multiple partitions on one drive, only one partition is also partitioned
The apple EFI is about 200MB when windows one is about 100MB.
The problem comes from the linux elements in the apple EFI.
I will put a ticket as you say.
Thanks.
Hi icounil,
We are in the testing phase of the new build of GrimeFighter which will support EFI. That release is due in a few weeks.
However, I want to check with our Dev team since it looks like you have a different flavor of EFI, so just want to verify if yours is covered or not
Thanks,
David
My problems with Grimefighter began after I ran it. It ran all the way through and seemed to do what it was supposed to. But since then, after rebooting multiple times, the CPU runs at 100%. When i check out Task Manager’s list of Processes, these two are the culprits: AvastServ.exe and AvastSvc.exe. Totally, they are using between 60-75% of the CPU. This never happened when i just had regular paid Home Avast.
Needless to say, I can hardly get anything done in this situation, and the computer works like a snail. Admittedly, I am still using the dinosaur of Windows Vista, but this problem never happened before Grimefighter or re-installing my paid version of regular Avast. Since you can’t get rid of Grimefighter without uninstalling Avast altogether, what are we supposed to do??? With absolutely NO support answers from Avast itself, as everyone else has noted.
Hi strebym,
Sorry for the late reply
I passed this to our Dev team and asked for some analysis about the cause and any possible fix/workaround. Hopefully will post back in the next day or two.
Thanks,
Davidek
Hi, I’m running into the same issue, I had tried to take C:\Jumpshot and boot it from a flash drive (but it kept hanging). Is there any word about this release? I’m running Win 8.1 on a 15" 2011 Macbook Pro, and would like to have it working. If not, I have a 2 year 3 license subscription, is there a way to recover one of these licenses and transfer it to another device?
Thanks
Please let me know when a fix comes in for MacBook Pros using Windows 7. I just bought a license for mine, and saw this. I’m not sure if I should ask for the refund or just wait it out.
Hi All,
At this moment we don’t support users running Windows on Mac. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. The best course of action in this case is to request a refund through our Support channel:
Best regards,
