Press Release:

Spyros, your link does not work (yet?) but here’s a functional one: http://www.cbronline.com/article_news.asp?guid=41CB9B28-E48E-4418-AB57-C36F98A5CC0A

??? ??? ???
Works perfectly for me.

There goes the neighbourhood ;D

I hope the updates don’t go the same way as AVG ?

While it will continue to support and develop the Ewido scanner as a standalone product, with the launch of a beta of version 4.0 due on April 24, 2006, the rationale behind the purchase is to grow the flagship product.

I guess we will have to wait and see if this continues to be available as a stand alone product. Look forward to the 4.0 beta (for those brave souls) and perhaps 4.0 release not too long after that, take advantage whilst you can ;D

I’ve dreamed about this a lot of times… I’m being recommending ewido a lot as the great detection capacity of it.
Why don’t you guys have spyware signatures? :‘( Why? :’(
I’ve claimed for this a lot of times… now we loose ewido :-\

He said that while the immediate benefit from the acquisition will be Ewido's anti-spyware offering, "they have a very advanced emulator within their product which could help us improve our engine to offer proactive protection that doesn't rely on signatures." He said this could help "to unpack and inspect code that's been created to bypass scanners."
Proactive protection :-* :-*

 Hi All :

Quite an interesting thread here :

Geez, I hope they do not “screw up” ewido! :o

We all know how often that happens when something good is aquired by another company. ::slight_smile:

(Hmmm … if ewido was up to sale, it would have been nice if alwil software had aquired it.) ;D

I too hope they do not screw up ewido it is a wonderful product alongside avast! But I think this is good for ewido becuase not many people knew about it and they might not have been making much money but now ewido is a part of Grisoft and will be advertised as one of their product. Grisoft is a popular product and users will get to hear about ewido and with that in my belief people will buy the plus ewido and the users who can’t afford it or don’t want to can use it for free.

I hope there will still be a free version though.

Hi Vlk,

Just striking this link given at the top works for me. But it appeared to me lately that in the infrastructure of the Internet lately there is a lot of interconnectivity lost, I had a 123 ms delay on command with the outroutering from Amsterdam to certain sites the other day (tracert, and ping- now everything OK), a 404 the one day- normal links the next
Maybe there is something with the backbone structures, and there is an awful amount of “linkrot” recently. Is this just what I presume or is there an actual cause for this? What is your view here. Some packets getting lost?
