Had to re-install Internet Security: Won't now load latest version/definitions

I had to re-install the above and now after doing this from the file that I downloaded on original purchase (about a month ago) I am getting the software installed but with warning signs on definitions and version. Clicking the update buttons has the status bar sitting on zero with the message initialising but absolutely sweet FA happening. I went onto avast seeing if I could download the setup file again in my account but this does not seem possible without paying another £30. I have uninstalled it in frustration and put Microsoft security essentials on for the time being as cannot get the software to update at all. What is going on?

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

That seems to have done the trick: thanks very much

You’re welcome.
