Hi malware fighters,
Nearly half of those 100 webmasters that were warned by av vendor G Data to have malcode on a website, had not removed the malware within the following week. The security vendor therefore comes to the conclusion that webmaster in general react slowly where malware infections are concerned. For twenty webmasters it took three weeks before they took any action, Five of those webmaster warned did not react at all and did nothing to protect the visitors of their sites. These are remarkable results because this group of people should be aware of malware threats.
Drive-by downloads still form the main reason that Internet users are getting infected via non-patched holes. Here both the webmaster that host the vulnerable website as the end-user that forgot to patch are to blame, because the two categories form sitting ducks for malicious hacking attacks. "We like to see more webmasters to take their responsibility where the security of their websites is concerned. Those that do not want their websites to be a prey for cybercriminals, should check their webservers from time to time, and when needed act accordingly to tackle upcoming problems, according to G Data’s Ralf Benzmüller,

P.S. Normally Webmasters react quickly where phishing attacks are concerned, as a rule of thumb 10% will go on unnoticed during an extended period. Sys admins (often staff from the hosting provider) are the ones to act accordingly and have to know-how to cleanse. The average user does not know enough about the threat to be able to cleanse a website properly, allthough we try to educate them here in the forums,
