I also wish to thank you for your service. However, I’d like to give you a “heads up” as well…
While in the Navy, I was attached to Commander Fleet Air Western Pacific (ComFairWestPac), and TDY to MACV, with responsibility for the maintenace of Marine and Navy POW records from late 1968 until early 1971. There was only one Hayden on the POW/MIA list, and he’s dead.
Certainly, you might have been in country before or after me, so you might want to contact the Department of Defense, and have them correct their records, because you’re not showing up on any list of returned POWs from the Vietnam war. There are many sources available on the net, here is just one of the lists:
http://www.homeofheroes.com/valor/1_POWs/pow_rvn_detail.html
It would be important for you to do that. There is quite a movement going on within veteran’s groups to identify people who falsely claim honors and medals not due them. Here’s some light reading on the subject:
http://www.homeofheroes.com/herobill/index.html
http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies19.htm
I hope you get your records straightened out. Good Luck.
Edit: Typo
There was only one Hayden on the POW/MIA list, and he's dead.I guess you're assuming that his username is is real name ??? You know what they say about assuming...... ;D ;D
thanks bob…you are right ;D
and orange crate…i don’t have to prove it to you or no one but to God to forgive me for what i did in that conflict. 8)
enough said >:(
Yes Bob,
I going to assume that “Dan’s” initials, and real name are D. (for Dan) R. Hayden, and that he lives in Evansville, Indiana.
Any other comments?
time to end the bs orange crate…you are not the FBI and that is NOT repeat NOT my real name
this is a anti-virus forum to help people and not a forum to judge and pick on people.
i am NOT saying again NOT going to reply to this again. :-*
besides that have a good one avast! world :-*
Just want to say to the U.S. folks, a “Happy Fourth of July”. Have a nice day.
OrangeCrate,
In no way do I question your sincerity or honesty but I have to say, when I first went to that website you linked to (http://www.homeofheroes.com/valor/1_POWs/pow_rvn_detail.html), the Go Here for a Sample Alphabetical Listing link took me to a “Click the Fart Button” page. Sometimes its an antispam sales pitch, sometimes a page not found.
Again, this is not a statement about you at all. It just makes me question the site.
But to you OrangeCrate, I sincerely thank you for your service too.
mauserme,
I didn’t look any further into the site than to find the list, though I just tried the link you referred to, and got a 404.
As mentioned in my original post, you can find the info several places on the web. Here’s a Department of Defense site:
http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmsea/files.htm
Go to the bottom of the page, and you will see two PDF reports available under “US Prisoners of War”. One of those lists those who returned alive, and another those who escaped captivity (of which there are only 35) during the war.
Thank you, god bless all.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY !!!
Thanks to all service persons, past & present, for all you’ve done and do!
OrangeCrate, this thread is about the celebrations of the Independence Day, not about each other’s participation in the army. I don’t really think it is appropriate to verify someone’s claims just because he says “I don’t like fireworks as they remind me the hell in Vietnam.”
Please stay on topic, and try to be nice here. Just a small reminder, this is an avast AV forum. The last thing we want to do is “act as nursemaids” (hell, we’re software engineers ;))
Thanks (and have a good one)
Vlk
