My main PC hard drive just died and I am temporarily using an old piece of junk that’s been patched together. I bought a two-year protection program just a few months ago, and installed it on the main PC and a laptop. I think I am allowed to install the Avast protection on one other computer. I am reluctant to waste my third installation on this piece of junk, but am not sure how long it will be before I am set up with a new computer. (I need a whole new system, not just a new HD). What can customers do if they install Avast on their computer and then the computer’s HD dies? Am I still limited to just one more install?
You aren’t limited by installs but by the number of PCs you have it on.
You can install it on the replacement PC as that will be the only active version running. You just can’t have it installed on multiple systems unless your license is for more than one system. Ordinarily you would uninstall on the old system, but with a dead HDD and or system you aren’t going to be able to do that.
You probably haven’t saved your license - Resend avast License http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php, you will need to enter the email that you used when purchasing the license, e.g. the one that the original email with the link was sent.
Thanks. I think I only saved the license on the HD that died! (I know, mistake!) I save most things on an external drive as well as my C Drive, but since I don’t see it on there, I guess it’s one of the things that didn’t make it. I should still have my e-mail, though. Thanks again.
You’re welcome.
Don’t worry if you can’t find the email, you can have them resend the license to your original email address.
