Should ashdisp and ashserv be reading hard drive constantly or is this a bug ?
I am on Xp sp 1 avast 4.1 home edition

Hehe why they shouldn’t? These two are avast! main scan modules which check files for viruses. IT IS required for them to access hard drive regulary.
Don’t worry,they access disk only when you copy specific infectable files or open them. Thats all.
There is another thread explaining this. Do a search for it on this board if you like to know more about it. I think it was Vlk or Igor who explained everything.
