As soon as I get my refund from AVG, I’m going to purchase Avast Pro.
I can’t seem to find anything definitive here or on the Web site FAQs/KB about installing Pro over Home.
Will entering the Pro license key in Home “unlock” the Pro features?
OR
Do I need to uninstall Home before installing Pro?
OR
Can I just run the Pro installer and let it install over Home?
(IMHO, this Home-to-Pro install should be addressed in avast-professional-install-manual.pdf)

when you uninstall AVG follow the instructions on their removal page or FAQ
basically download the latest version of the installer
if your computer has ever had a pre-installed AV or Suite or has ever had NORTON, Panda, McAffe
etc run their removers also

When you have purchased your Pro license, you will be sent a registration key, enter that in the same place you entered the Home key. Ensure you are on-line at this time and it will be converted from Home to Pro.

I did eventually bump into the notification icon menu item “Upgrade to Avast! Professional Edition…” that opens the browser to http://www.avast.com/eng/upgrade-to-avast-professional.html which as far as I can tell can’t be found anywhere on the Web site itself.
You’re welcome, yes there is a lot of stuff on the web site, I guess their thought is those wishing to upgrade from the home to pro will see it in the menu, with a nice discount by following that link.
