I have upgraded to AVAST Pro on my new PC. I don’t have AVAST Firewall. Windows 10.
I recently reinstalled Dragon Age Inquisition in Origin.
Game wouldn’t launch, went straight back to desktop.
DAI is an exception in my Windows Firewall - so that wasn’t the problem.
After trying many things, I have found the only way I can get the game to launch is by turning off the shields.
This can’t be good.
Any advice?
Not sure where Avast is headed when the advice becomes turning off shields just to run everyday applications. Kind of defies the purpose of an antivirus in the first place. Everything was fine in the last version. If they screwed up, admitting it and doing a rollback would have been more welcome from everyone. Right now you have people switching away instead as there still hasn’t even been an acknowledgement that there is a problem, let alone a fix in sight.
I’ve used AVAST for years and not had to add a game to exceptions before.
My poor understanding of how it all works leaves me feeling somewhat nervous as to how secure I am. To the point where I’ve gone in to setting and turned off auto-renew so I can do a bit of research first.
I liked AVAST because it rated well on independent reviews, and didn’t have the infuriating pop-ups (unfortunately, that has changed).
With the pop-ups and now this - is definitely time for a bit of research (sadly).
