Having Trouble Downloading & Installing Free Version

Good morning.

Several days ago I got Avast free installed on my wife’s laptop with no problems and it’s working great! Yesterday and today I have had trouble getting it on my desktop. Keep getting a “fatal error” message when I try to install – says something about Avast safety.

As info, I have Windows 7, SP1. Have disabled Key Scrambler, uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus but still have on Malwarebytes Premium software. When trying to install Avast i tried “Run As Administrator.” Nothing has worked. Reinstalled MSE for protection until I can get this done.

Does anyone have suggestions re this problem and a solution for me? Others must have run into this problem also.

Did you run the MSE removal tool to delete remnants before installing avast? you could also try disabling Malwarebytes until the avast install is completed and see if it helps.

I did uninstall MSE. However, I don’t know that you can disable Malwarebyes. If you know how to do it, pls tell me how.
