Having trouble with connecting to "avast! account"

Ok

I bought into the “pro version 7” and it was running fine for a month or so… it began to ask me to register it with an “avast! account”, I didn’t because this is the only device I am using and thought it was unnecessary.

Now avast is not working and on the “Summary” it clearly states “Unsecured”… it offers a “fix now” button but nothing happens when I click on it.

It also states “Not connected with any avast! account” and offers a “Connect” link/button… when I click on it I am sent to a registration window… I go through the registration process. So i am now registered with a avast! account.

Problem… in spite of being registered etc… there is no reactivation or restart to the avast on my computer.

This is a problem because it shows no button or link or anything to reconnect my avast when I go to my account… it only shows buttons to download avast. I already have avast I do not need to download it.

My bought and paid for avast is NOT working… there is NO phone help… and I need this to work.

Can anyone give me a step by step way to correct this problem… I am rather computer illiterate so do not use lingo that is not plain English please.

I am willing to give screen shots of what I see each step of the way if it will help and if I knew how to do so.

Thank you in advance for any help…

The registration wont fix anything…you might think that the 2 issues (registration and your Unsecured status) have something in common because they occurred at nearly the same time, but one has nothing to do with the other.

Have you rebooted since clicking the Fix button?

Once you try that, if it does not work (or you already tried that), do a program repair.

Find Avast! on the list of installed Windows programs in Control Panel (under Add/Remove Progs. or Programs&Features, depending on OS). Click on Avast! when you find it on the list and a Repair option should appear, use that.

Excellent… I just did the repair, then rebooted… and everything is good.
