What is the function of this - well to me it is clearly to try and sell f-secure products.

Well they tell porkies (or is economical with the truth/full info) on the page as well as it says:
This is an online web application that is not installed on your computer. Health Check can be run on the following web browsers.
Yet it download a JAVA applet (which takes an eternity on dial-up), given the current state of play on JAVA vulnerabilities a bit of a security risk, not good for a so called security check/company ;D
There are also areas that it can’t possibly know, typically back-up solutions.
The picture I posted was from my XP Pro system and show that it did not find my Acronis True Image backup application.

After all the palaver trying to download ‘what they said doesn’t download’ the download failed at 59%, if it weren’t so pathetic it would be laughable.
Th really wanted to see what it might make up to try and sell something if you click the Solve button

Let’s be fair. The reason it didn’t complete was probably due to your inadequate internet speed.

All in all, it’s probably a handy tool for the average user.
(I opted for the last option in the “Sales Pitch” )
