after the latest VPS update, both on-access scanner & mail scanner turned itself off.
choosing “start on access protection” from the trayicon menu does not sollvee it.

I’m running win98se, and yes I did try to uninstall/reinstall both providers but it didn’t work :-\

Didn’t you also have AntiVir installed? Could that have anything to do with this problem or do you have them installed on separate machines?

Good troubleshooting…
Indeed Antivir 7 (even with the Guard uninstalled) will conflict with avast and disable this providers.
There is a workaround posted by Igor. I’ve tested and it worked 8)
actually no, I uninstalled Antivir & installed the new ver. of avast4! ;D
Do the Antivir services were removed?
Is there any trouble with
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ …
keys? I mean, is ther Antivir drivers or keys there?
