I downloaded Avast home two days ago, and would like to say, I think this is a great anti virus…
I do have a question though.
Earlier, while searching sites for Christmas avatars…I stepped away from the computer, and all H*ll broke loose.
Screen showed a bar at bottom, and another window opened indicating a Trojan had been detected, now, sorry, it happened so fast,
but there was a button to (not sure of wording) disconnect?
So, what happened, how do I find out, or did Avast take care of this??
Am I safe, how do I find out??
I think I’m going to be an Avast user for a long time…just trying to figure it all out…
Thanks in advance
Hey and welcome to the forum pharmerphil, if you hit the disconnect button when avast pop upped you are safe sense avast have stop the treat to entering your computer.
But you can scan with MBAB and/or SAS if you want to be one the safe side.

hopes this answered your question.
New users are usually booed in the beta forum sometimes if they find some problem, by the guys that have lots of stars on their profile.
So watch out for people who speak as if Charles Babbage is their grandfather and Steve Jobs is their uncle and Bill Gates is their father in law.
Arrogrant peoples ;D ;D ;D ;D Just joking ;D ;D ;D Can come true : :

Why do you keep posting this kind of drivel, this is a support forum and not a chat site.
I was wondering the same thing. Completely off-topic.
I was just warning on people like you all ; :-X
Pathetic, I somehow guessed this would be your response.
Has anyone booed ‘pharmerphil’ the newbie in this topic, no, has anyone offered help without question, yes. This is the purpose of a support forum and if someone got booed as you say, the very people responding here (excluding you in this) would be very quick to to say that isn’t right. But you wouldn’t know that, as you have been here about five minutes.
As I said your contribution is a) off topic and b) doesn’t help the user in the slightest with the problem that they sought help with. All it has done is prove to be a distraction.
Thanks for your reply, I will look into the two suggested scans…
Will either of the two also effectively remove any problems?
just asking, I have downloaded freeware before that only let you know a problem exisited, and it’s location…leaving removal to paying customers
As for the slight “distraction” here, I pay no mind to such things, I operate 2 forums, these kind of remarks happen on both…once
…then I use the “delete user” button
just asking, I have downloaded freeware before that only let you know a problem exisited, and it's location...leaving removal to paying customers
Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware will remove what they fiend for free, the only thing you have to pay for is protection module and that is a one time fee for a lifetime license
Thanks Pondus…
one question…
Yesterday morning was when this took place. about 7:30 a.m. Central time (u.s.a.)
It was right after the VPS updated that the “trojan” was detected.
and as the problem in my original post was happening…
I remember now that Adobe started to open a file…
was this related to the ““Win32:Delf-MZG””
and if so, is there a record/log I can access somewhere to see if the VPS update 091203-0 is there and installed at that time?
Not sure of the time here in relation to the time of this event stated in this thread
Win32:Delf-MZG
UPDATE::::::
Ok, found the LOG VIEWER…
Under the WARNING Tab:
at exactly the time this event took place:
12/2/2009 7:28:56 AM SYSTEM 940 Sign of "JS:Downloader-FT [Trj]" has been found in "http://xxx/?xx" file. Any ideas?
then under the “NOTICE” tab:
12/3/2009 5:37:17 AM SYSTEM 936 The virus database (VPS 091203-1) was automatically updated.
which was roughly 2 hours prior
Ensure you have the latest VPS version 091203-1 (which you seem to have) as a number of false positives on this malware name, Win32:Delf-MZG have been corrected. So rescan this file within the chest if that is where it is and Restore it if no longer detected.
The JS:Downloader detection is most likely correct, coming from an internet location.
Please ‘modify’ your post change the URL from http to hXXp or www to wXw, to break the link and avoid accidental exposure to suspect sites, thanks.
Thanks David for your reply.
There were no files in the chest.
mikaelrask, I downloaded and ran malwarebytes, it did pick up 6 items, non related to this, so I THANK YOU for your tips.
You’re welcome.
So presumably when the Win32:Delf-MZG detection was made you chose no action.
