Avast doesn’t let me access and install my school vpn. No error msg given by avast.
1/ When you get no message from Avast, what makes you even think it’s avast fault in the first place?
2/ How can anyone try to reproduce and fix the problem with absolutely no information provided, like
- what kind of VPN
- are you installing any SW or not for the VPN
- which Windows version
- which avast product and version
- what does “doesn’t let me access and install” actually even mean, i.e. what you expected to happen and what happened instead of that
I got the same problem with my Expres VPN version V3.416.exe
I came to suspect avast because it manage vnp throuh its sandbox before it was windows only…I did renew recently my avast to protection Internet security
After that Iunstall vnp and vnp doesnot work …before I get avast I use vnp for a year without problem
What is a SW ?
I got Windows 7
avast! Internet Security V8 1PC
I do hope my vnp can access to what is it for access to other server
maybe is the way I have to sort out avast ?
Thanks for your help
How do we know you have the “same problem”? There is absolutely no info provided by the OP. Please, start your own thread next time.
You obviously should NOT install anything into avast sandbox. If you are sure it’s a safe file, then exclude it from avast! DeepScreen so that it does NOT get sandboxed when installing. Otherwise, the VPN will not ever work. (Also exclude the resulting installed executable if required for VPN connection and if it still gets sandboxed when launched after the install is complete.)
Hi sorry for the lack of information but I myself aren’t sure what exactly is the problem.
I have brought my laptop to my school technician(they are also student) to install the school vpn but was told that they couldn’t access the site at all to install it. From what I can gather the site might have been in the vpn which is why I couldn’t access it.
Furthermore, they say that avast is not under the supported AV but if I try to access the vpn using the school wifi it work and I can access but when I use other wifi network I couldn’t access it.
They told me I could only uninstall avast in order to access and install it so I was wondering if and have any way to overcome this because I really dun wanna uninstall avast.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Well, I’m sorry but it’s rather impossible to provide any help since you yet again mentioned none of the requested information. Maybe get your IT staff talk with Avast and refer them to this thread.
Its a school VPN I think it’s seem Cisco
I have no idea what’s SW
Win 7
Avast 8
As said, it’d be extremely beneficial to debugging to get in touch with someone who can provide technical description. Meanwhile, there’s Avast 2014 released, Avast 8 is outdated. You can try to upgrade and see if it helps. Or better yet, uninstall and do a clean install of the new version.

Indeed it will beneficial but unfortunately it is impossible. I have ask but was only offer 2 option, uninstall avast or dun install the vpn. That is why I came to post in this forum for help.
Well, then you need to get the information yourself and provide it here. In addition to that, posting Avast 8 is not really sufficient, as an example. There are 4 variants of the product, two of which include a firewall - http://www.avast.com/compare-antivirus
Win 7 - 32bit or 64bit? All these details may be relevant.
And of course, if you do not know what kind of VPN you are using, sorry, you most likely are SOL
