Hello,
I was hoping somebody could help me with an issue I’m having. What the deal is: I noticed that my computer has slowed down quite a bit, CPU usage is almost constantly at 100% and things take large amounts of time to open. I assumed that it might be some useless programs/toolbars soaking up RAM and causing this, but after uninstalling all of them, the problem persisted. I then thought I had a virus, so I downloaded Avast Antivirus. Everything seemed alright at first, I went through with a scan, found 1 malicious item and deleted it. However, things have only gotten worse, and I can’t even use the avast live shields. Avast console tells me It just fails to start them and after leaving the computer on for 1-2 hours, avast starts not responding and flashing until after 20 minutes it finally crashes. Please Help, I fear I may be infected with something terrible.
I’ve inculded an HJK log and an aswMBR log. Ive tried scanning with Malwarebytes, but after approximately 75000 items, it slows down to a speed where it would probably take at least a few days to finish. OTl also takes forever.
Uh … DDS shows that system is in real mess … I’m not sure what we can do but we will certainly gonna try.
Let’s attack immediately with ComboFix but we will use a pair of switch directives which should help him to complete the work.
Please note:
ComboFix may ask for reboot more then one time!
If you fail at first, then delete ComboFix.exe (drag&drop into recycle) and download fresh copy and re-try from Safe Mode.
If you get BSOD, do not be alarm, this just means that the CF’s driver has need “canceled” and thus caused the BSOD, then stop and just let me know about it.
Please download ComboFix by sUBsfrom here and save it to your Desktop.
Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may interfere with Combofix. If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.

Ok, the program has been scanning for over 2 hours and its stuck on stage 10. I’m on another computer at the moment so I’m not interupting the scanning. Is a very long scan like this normal? There havent been any BSODs or reboots yet.
Mine too has stopped working. I bought the Internet security 2 years ago. Computer was getting really slow, then yesterday found out that Virus protection had stopped working. The license # I saved is not a valid Avast license file, In my account I was not able to submit a ticket (got an “error occurred in script”. Tried to reset and got “AAVM subsystem not detected RDC error, FileSystem Shield provider not found”. Firewall claims to be working
Hello again.
What happened, is that combofix is stuck at the 48th stage and has not done anything for about an hour. Should I restart it? Also, at the begining, combofix deleted msvcr17.exe or something like that. Just thought it might be important.
Thanks so far,
David
